Movement

When I see movement I also see the space around the bodies. Movement is an unraveling thread of ephemeral designs that the mind has to keep track of. We learn to identify a language, a grouping of movements that together burn bright in our memories. Through reference and repetition we come to understand an emotional significance that hits me harder than any other discipline can, because the message is transmitted by a person like you or me.

What is left after is what is burned into our memories: that one image you will never forget.

Ice

Work made on ice: solos and group pieces, a company that told stories with giant puppets, a film shot on frozen lakes, and figures — drawing with the blade.

Land

Work made on the ground: site specific performance in the garden at Calle 62, for an audience touring it.

Trail

A tool I built: it follows your movement and draws the line it makes, the way a blade does on ice.
